Climate Policy HUB

an advocacy agenda in many hands.

CEBDS, founded in 1997 by businesspeople attentive to sustainability, is the voice of the business sector for sustainable development in Brazil. Its work is a global reference in tackling climate, social and environmental crises.

A fundamental part of this action takes place through advocacy actions, in which CEBDS companies dialogue with academia, civil society and governments to co-construct essential policies and regulations on the path to a more sustainable and equitable economy, seeking the sustainable development of Brazil for future generations.

Here, at the Climate Policy Hub, you will find the business sector's view on which main climate policies and regulations need to advance, in what form, and what their status is.

Fronts of acting

The Regulated Carbon Market is a government or regulatory system established to manage and control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through a system of limits and permits.

The Voluntary Carbon Market is a system in which individuals, companies and organizations can buy, sell or offset greenhouse gas emissions on a voluntary basis.

Set of mechanisms and financial instruments designed to facilitate the implementation of commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions established in the Paris Agreement.

NDCs are voluntary climate commitments made by each country that ratified the Paris Agreement (2015), with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigating climate change. Each NDC is tailored to the particularities of the country, reflecting its responsibilities and capabilities, and covers both emission reduction targets and climate change adaptation actions.

The Energy Transition is the transformation of the global energy system from fossil fuels to renewable sources such as solar and wind. This process involves technological, economic and social challenges, varying according to the context of each country. The transition must be fair, ensuring that everyone, especially marginalized communities, benefits from a sustainable and affordable energy system.

Strategic documents that detail how a company intends to reduce its carbon emissions and manage climate risks. These plans are essential to aligning business operations with global sustainability goals, such as those set by the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

The Sustainable Taxonomy is a classification system that organizes and defines economic activities based on their environmental, climate and social impacts. Its purpose is to direct investments towards sustainable projects, combat greenwashing and support the transition to a low-carbon economy, promoting innovation, global competitiveness and alignment with climate goals.
