CNPE approves the new National Energy Transition Policy

The new was published today in the Official Gazette of the Union (28/08) National Energy Transition Policy (PNTE), approved by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE). The PNTE will serve as a guiding element for the transformation of the national energy matrix in the long term, and has an estimated potential to attract investments of up to 2 trillion reais over the next decade, according to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The Policy has two main implementation instruments:

  • O National Energy Transition Forum (FONTE), composed of an Executive Committee and a Plenary, which will include the participation of entities from the public sector, civil society and the business sector;
  • O National Energy Transition Plan (PLANTE), integrated with other structural policies in progress – such as the Climate Plan, the Green Package, the PAC and the New Industry Brazil – whose draft will be submitted for public consultation.

One fair energy transition, integrated with nature and society is a strategic agenda of CEBDS and the central theme of the CEBDS Seminar, which is being held today in Natal (RN).
