Volkswagen Trucks and Buses aims to act responsibly towards the environment and society, recognizing its role in transforming the mobility of people and goods in a context of global climate challenges. Aligned with its history of pioneering and innovation, the company has developed cleaner and more efficient transport solutions, culminating in the launch of the e-Delivery — the first locally produced electric 100% truck with its own technology. This initiative reinforces the company's commitment to decarbonizing logistics, increasing operational efficiency, and promoting sustainable mobility.

Methodology

The e-Delivery was designed to fully meet the operational demands currently met by the diesel models in the Delivery line, offering equivalent performance with significantly reduced emissions. Between 2017 and 2020, Volkswagen Trucks and Buses conducted the technical development and conceptual testing of the project, in partnership with the modular consortium — a coalition of companies dedicated to development, assembly, and quality assurance. This collaborative work enabled sustainable mobility solutions aligned with the needs of customers operating electric fleets. In 2021, national production of the e-Delivery began, and since then, its application has expanded to international markets, including Argentina, Paraguay, Guatemala, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Mexico, consolidating the model as a benchmark in the electrification of commercial vehicles.

Results

The e-Delivery contributes to the decarbonization of urban transport by reducing emissions and noise, promoting a higher quality of life in cities and boosting the generation of skilled jobs. In environmental terms, the model provides a reduction of up to 90% in CO₂e emissions, which represents approximately 40 tons avoided per vehicle in well-to-wheel operations. Between 2021 and 2024, the new generation of the e-Delivery avoided approximately 15,000 tons of CO₂e per year in Latin America. In 2024, the model achieved a 49% sales share, reinforcing Volkswagen Trucks and Buses' leadership in offering electric and sustainable transport solutions.
