GREENBOUND: DECARBONIZING THE LOGISTICS CHAIN
Climate change is an urgent reality. Actions that promote systemic transformations are essential to limit emissions by 2030. In this sense, the L'Oréal Group is developing the GREENBOUND case, applying biogas to decarbonize its logistics operations and stimulate the development of a renewable biofuels market.
Integration of renewable biofuels into the supply chain
Methodology
Decarbonizing the logistics chain is a strategic challenge in Brazil. Working in partnership was fundamental to advancing legislation on the use of biogas, mobilizing internal areas to transform operations, working with suppliers, and creating the first dedicated refueling point. The project has the support of Gás Verde, supplying clean fuel from landfill waste, Reiter Log, and Scania. Methodologies for monitoring results and influencing the partner ecosystem are essential to amplifying the positive impact throughout the value chain.
First dedicated biogas refueling point in Brazil
Results
This enabled a reduction of 2,200 tons of CO2 emissions in operations, compared to 2023, being used in 80% of direct loads to São Paulo and 100% on the Factory-Distribution Center route. With this case study, the L'Oréal Group influences the supply chain and fosters collaboration with other industries, suppliers, and customers towards more sustainable practices, and encourages other players to apply the operational model. Its scalability extends beyond Brazil's borders, offering a replicable and adaptable model for different regions, acting as a catalyst for a transition to a low-carbon economy.
