I'M GREEN BIO-BASED
With the goal of developing sustainable solutions that improve people's lives, Braskem created I'm green bio-based polyethylene (PE), made with sugarcane ethanol. This initiative contributes to the reduction of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), promoting a low-carbon economy.
Innovation in materials promotes sustainability in the production chain.
Methodology
PE I'm green bio-based has been produced in Rio Grande do Sul for 15 years, using a renewable source (sugarcane) that captures CO2 during its cultivation. Production occurs on an industrial scale, involving strategic suppliers and value chains committed to the transition to a low-carbon economy. The production chain is mostly certified (Bonsucro, ISCC+), with segregated production and proof of captured biogenic carbon, generating a positive impact without requiring changes to industrial or recycling processes.

Results
Since 2010, PE I'm green bio-based has prevented the emission of at least 7.13 million tons of CO2. Used by more than 200 global brands, the product replaces fossil resins without compromising performance or recyclability. A highlight is the Carbon Footprint study, which demonstrated a net capture of 2.12 tons of CO2 for every ton of polyethylene produced up to the Braskem plant gate. This initiative positions the country as a benchmark in sustainable solutions on an industrial scale, and it doesn't stop there. The goal is to reach 2030 with the production of 1 million tons/year of products from renewable sources.
Goal by 2030: produce 1 million tons/year of renewable products.
