Jaíba Sun Project
The Sol de Jaíba project in Minas Gerais, Brazil, aims to reduce energy costs and expand the use of renewable energy at Assaí supermarkets through solar self-generation. The initiative ensures financial predictability and reinforces the company's commitment to sustainability and decarbonization.
Solar self-production that guarantees savings, predictability, and decarbonization.
Methodology
Implementation via consortium through leasing, with contracts for property transfer, equipment rental, and O&M. Included land, environmental, and energy due diligence, and approval by the Board, CADE (Brazilian antitrust authority), and ANEEL (Brazilian National Agency of Electric Energy). Partners: Lefosse, Grupo Energia, and Auren. Installed capacity: 159.96 MWp.
Innovative model: solar consortium with legal security and operational efficiency.
Results
Cost reduction of up to R$175 million and a contract of R$353 million/5 years. Generation of 315,360 MWh/year (100% renewable), serving 93 stores (30.6%) and avoiding approximately 15,000 tCO₂/year. Energy certified with I-REC, contributing to a reduction of 42% of direct emissions by 2030 and guaranteeing 100% of operations with renewable energy.
315 thousand MWh/year that accelerate the journey to 100% of clean energy.
