Alignment of SESC projects with the SDGs
Sesc presents its case study on aligning projects with the Sustainable Development Goals. The aligned projects encompass the following areas of Sesc's work: Health, Education, Leisure, Social Assistance, and Culture. Respecting global guidelines, we adapted the SDGs to the local reality of each project, with clear monitoring criteria.
Global alignment, local action: practical sustainability in action.
Methodology
The methodology was based on the Global Compact Network Brazil, CEBDS, and the SDG Compass Guide. The process involved training more than 200 technicians from 24 states, project-based alignment meetings to align adapted goals and social indicators, and is being carried out periodically by the National Department of Sesc until 2030, when the 2030 Agenda concludes.
Training of over 200 technicians in 24 states.
Results
As a result of a two-year process of aligning Sesc projects with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 24 regional offices, corresponding to the states where Sesc operates, have aligned projects with the SDGs. To date, 108 projects have been aligned nationwide, with the process still underway. More than 200 Sesc technicians have been trained throughout Brazil. The projects are distributed across Sesc programs as follows: Culture – 26 projects; Education – 24; Leisure – 20; Health – 20; Social Assistance – 19. Regarding the ranking of SDGs most represented in the projects, the following stand out: SDG 12 – 72 projects; SDG 4 – 64; SDG 11 – 38; SDG 10 – 37; SDG 3 – 35.
The most prevalent SDGs are: 12, 4, 11, 10, and 3, guiding social and environmental impacts.
