The Michelin Ecological Reserve (REM), established in 2004 in Igrapiúna-BA, covers 3,950 hectares and aims, by restoring and preserving biodiversity, to demonstrate that the sustainable cultivation of natural rubber is possible. As one of the world's largest consumers of rubber, Michelin is committed to investing in practices that reconcile economic, social, and environmental needs.

3,950 hectares dedicated to restoration and conservation.

Methodology

It includes cultivation practices that reconcile rubber production and biodiversity in complementary geographic areas. In the area of biodiversity protection, activities are organized into six programs: protection, restoration, research, environmental education, women's leadership, and ecotourism. The reserve collaborates with scientists and academics from around the world on research and forms local partnerships to promote awareness and restoration of degraded areas, connecting ecosystems through vegetation corridors and engaging with local communities.

Six strategic programs: protection, restoration, research, education, women's leadership, and ecotourism.

Results
