Factory price station
Given the challenges in the recycling chain, a new model for recyclable material collection points is proposed, one that overcomes operational challenges and improves the remuneration of waste pickers in Brazil. With units spread across three Brazilian states, the results contribute to increased circularity and generate socio-environmental benefits.
Partnership with Ibema and Grupo Boticário promotes income through recycling.
Methodology
Through collection stations spread across Brazil, waste is received, sorted, and sent directly for recycling, resulting in an optimized value chain. The initiative, operated in partnership with the startup Green Mining, remunerates waste pickers up to six times the market value, generates social impact, and closes the loop by reintegrating the material into Grupo Boticário packaging. The project uses technology to monitor and track the volume recycled, properly allocating materials for treatment and recycling, reducing landfill disposal.
Providing support to cooperatives and optimizing collection logistics.
Results
The Factory Price Station Project brings together different cross-sector partners to leverage stations distributed throughout Brazil and has already collected around 5,000 tons of waste, generating over R$1,400,460 in income, improving the quality of life and work for the people impacted. Currently, the challenge is to intensify the expansion to other states, connecting with new actors, such as recyclers, processors, and consumer goods industries, expanding the impact and strengthening the circularity of materials.
Expansion of the project to new states with standardized infrastructure.
