Amaggi Regenerates
To strengthen its decarbonization efforts and achieve its climate ambition approved by SBTi, AMAGGI implemented Amaggi Regenera, its regenerative agriculture strategy, aimed at supporting the transition to low-carbon agricultural systems by promoting the regeneration of soil health, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
Exchanging experiences to promote regenerative agriculture.
Methodology
The initiative began on one of AMAGGI's own farms and, based on the results achieved, the program was expanded to other farms belonging to the company and partner producers. Quantitative indicators of soil health are monitored to assess the impacts of regenerative practices over time, including soil carbon and biodiversity indicators. In addition, the program promotes the dissemination of knowledge among family farming communities and rural producers and has a partnership with Embrapa, as well as other strategic partners.
Vegetation cover as an ally in soil conservation and carbon sequestration.
Results
Currently, the Program includes farms owned by and within the AMAGGI supply chain, encompassing 177,288.59 hectares, of which 91,871.46 hectares are arable, with monitoring of agricultural practices, carbon, soil, and biodiversity. It has held knowledge dissemination events for 15 family farmers and 70 participants, including rural producers and technical staff. The main factors for the initiative's success include the effective integration of monitoring tools, the work of multidisciplinary teams, and market engagement to expand demand for regenerative products.
