On the Amazonian coast, extractive communities suffer from climate change and a lack of reliable information about tides. To address this challenge, Accenture, Rare, UFPA/LAPMAR, and SEMAS are co-creating a modular AI and IoT platform that transforms data into accessible alerts, strengthening coastal governance and climate adaptation.

Innovation with purpose: AI and local knowledge to tackle climate change.

Methodology

The solution was developed on three fronts: 1- installation of low-cost sensors to monitor salinity, tides, and temperature; 2- use of AI algorithms to process territorial data in real time; and 3- sending simple alerts via WhatsApp in an accessible format. The project is co-created with local communities, integrating traditional knowledge, science, and public policies. It has partnerships with universities, environmental agencies, and the private sector, establishing a replicable model of territorialized climate intelligence.

Accessible information to support decisions made by coastal communities.

Results

The initiative is developing the first territorialized climate intelligence system in the Amazon, connecting science, technology, and traditional knowledge. Expected results include safety for fisheries management, reduced losses, and increased income, creating a foundation for a sustainable blue bioeconomy. The solution will offer hyperlocal monitoring for rapid responses to climate events, support governments in implementing policies such as the Climate Plan, GERCOZ, and ProManguezal, and structure a replicable and scalable model for coastal co-management.

Local monitoring to protect jobs, income, and nature.
