Farmer First Clusters

Logo da Parceira

The Farmer First Clusters program transforms one of the biggest challenges in the Cerrado region—conserving native vegetation in areas where conversion is still legal and profitable—into a concrete value proposition for producers, combining financial incentives, technical assistance, MRV (Mexican Value Proposition) and action in priority soybean landscapes.

Farmer First Clusters connects producers with incentives, technical assistance, and solutions to keep native vegetation standing.

Methodology

The FFC (Forest Conservation Program) was developed from the identification of priority risk regions in the Cerrado and the mobilization of companies (Bunge, Cargill, LDC, COFCO and ADM), ABIOVE and local partners. In practice, it combines five solutions: payments for the conservation of surplus Legal Reserve, restoration of native vegetation, biodiversity monitoring, technical assistance and socio-environmental regularization, as well as integrated systems and productive use of degraded pastures. Progress is tracked using harmonized MRV (Marine Biodiversity Reference Value) metrics.

Collective action to protect the Cerrado and strengthen sustainable production.

Results

Between 2023 and 2025, the FFC demonstrated that it is possible to transform DCF monitoring into on-the-ground impact: 262 farms supported across 1.4 million hectares; 2.7 million tCO2e avoided; 157 ha of native vegetation restored; and 46,112 ha of surplus Legal Reserve registered. On 159 farms, soybean production reached 1.63 million tons, with an average productivity of 3.41 t/ha.

FFC combines scale, conservation, and responsible production in the Cerrado.
