BIOECONOMY FINANCIAL HUB

Access to rural credit in the bioeconomy was limited due to the lack of maturity and structure in the supply chains. Distances and difficulties in transportation in the northern region were also obstacles. Short-term credit is scarce and expensive, and intermediaries frequently finance working capital instead of financial institutions.

Bioeconomy with accessible credit: from promise to practice.

Methodology

The Bioeconomy Financial Hub, created in April 2024 in Belém (PA) and expanded to Manaus (AM) in September 2024, facilitates access to public policies for family farming. It stands out for its territorial reach close to the Amazon biome, enabling investments and credit in riverside communities, settlements, and traditional peoples, with technical assistance to finance productive activities. The BB team offers on-site banking services, promoting financial inclusion and social inclusion.

Results

As a result, we have contracted new operations in bioeconomy lines and products, increasing the portfolio balance by 72%, which in March 2025 reached R$ 1.9 billion, directly impacting more than 61,000 people. The AtivaCred Forums were held, bringing together government, NGOs, BB, companies, and local communities to discuss credit strategies and are expected to impact more than 1,500 families. Credit agents will be trained to promote financial education and facilitate access to public policies, benefiting more than 3,500 families in the Legal Amazon and Cerrado regions, with a credit potential of R$ 200 million.

R$ 1.9 billion mobilized and more than 61,000 people supported.
