AjiPro®-L: animal feed for emission reduction

Logo da Parceira

Ajinomoto seeks to reduce GHG emissions in the livestock sector through a balanced feed with amino acids containing AjiPro®-L, a rumen-protected amino acid, in partnership with beef/dairy and rural producers. The high efficacy of AjiPro®-L provides environmental and economic benefits that encourage producers to create a sustainable sector.

Promoting a more sustainable and responsible livestock sector.

Methodology

AjiPro®-L is a product developed to effectively supply lysine, one of the most deficient amino acids in cattle feed, to the cow's organism. By using AjiPro®-L to supplement deficient amino acids and balance amino acids in feed, it helps improve cattle productivity and also effectively reduces GHG emissions generated in the cattle raising process. Furthermore, it can reduce feed production costs. The AjiPro™-L protocol is certified by the Japanese carbon credit platform and by voluntary carbon credit platforms such as Athian (USA).

Results

In addition to reducing multiple sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the livestock sector, such as N2O, CO2, and CH4, by 251 tCO2eq, 201 tCO2eq, and 101 tCO2eq, respectively (equivalent to 1 tCO2eq/livestock/year), it also improves producer income, further reducing the trend of deforestation in the sector. With these economic and environmental results, AjiPro®-L adds significant and holistic value to producers, manufacturers, and governments. The reduction in greenhouse gas emissions can be converted into carbon credits, potentially becoming a new source of income for producers.
