The Reverte program aims to address the challenge of degraded pastures in Brazil, which affects 85 million hectares. With the goal of restoring one million hectares by 2030, it seeks to transform degraded areas into productive ones, promoting food security without encroaching on new areas. The program adopts regenerative practices, improving soil health and carbon capture.

Productivity with balance: Integrating crops and pastures in restored areas with Reverte.

Methodology

Interested farmers undergo a socio-environmental eligibility assessment. If approved, they receive agronomic consulting and support, including a guide for the recovery of degraded areas and follow-up. The deal involves a 10-year credit line with a 3-year grace period. The program has two main partners: Itaú BBA, the financial partner, and the NGO TNC, a partner in the Cerrado region and vital to the program's conception. Reverte innovates by integrating socio-environmental, financial, and agricultural objectives, promoting sustainable agricultural practices that combine profitability and sustainability.

Technology and regeneration: Degraded areas gain new life through irrigation and efficient management.

Results

The Reverte program has 86 participating producers, 361 farms with 258,000 hectares under restoration, with a total financed value of R$ 1.9 billion. Due to its zero-deforestation policy on the beneficiary farms, the program has a surplus of legal reserve exceeding 18,000 hectares. The program is capable of promoting the conversion of degraded areas into productive agricultural areas, increasing soil health and local biodiversity, increasing carbon sequestration in the soil through regenerative agriculture practices, and increasing productivity, contributing to higher income for farmers.

Harvest with a positive impact: Agricultural production regenerated in previously unproductive areas.
