CEBDS NDCs RADAR | Nº 1 | DECEMBER 2024

During Climate Week in New York, 54 Brazilian companies, including Natura, Itaú, Unilever and Nestlé, signed a “Call to Action” led by CEBDS (Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development). The global positioning highlights the need to strengthen Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), with clear policies, investment incentives and greater private sector integration. The proposal also encourages companies to adopt bolder corporate transition plans, aligned with environmental preservation and climate mitigation goals.

The initiative is part of a global alliance in collaboration with entities such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the WeMean Business Coalition. CEBDS highlighted the importance of Brazil, as host of COP30 and president of the G20, in leading global climate ambition. “We need to act now to structure policies that promote a stable regulatory environment and sustainable investments,” said Marina Grossi, president of CEBDS.

With the goal of reducing GHG emissions by 53% by 2030, the Call to Action reinforces that revised NDCs must create conditions for a just and resilient transition. In addition, the movement seeks to attract private sector investment by combining business innovation and bold government policies, aiming to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5°C. Access here.
