Bill 182/2024, which establishes the Federal Senate Bill, was approved in a symbolic vote. the Brazilian Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading System (SBCE). The project will return to the Chamber of Deputies for final deliberation.

The approved base text is the fourth plenary report by the rapporteur, Sen. Leila Barros (PDT/DF), and was the result of an agreement between the senators, the federal government, subnational entities, sectoral entities and the Chamber of Deputies. The final draft of the bill, with approved highlights and drafting adjustments made in the plenary, will be released later.

CEBDS celebrates the approval of the matter, a climate policy instrument whose implementation has been defended by the organization since 2016, aware of the need for improvements via subordinate standards and the need for continued participation of the business sector in the construction of the policy.
